Mystic Pull Tarot

My Deviant Moon Deck always delivers the most no-bullshit readings. I want you to know I have been using and shuffling this deck for YEARS and to have these three cups just saunter in here all reversed is bananas. 

As we are under the influence of the eclipse, we are going to be hit with waves of emotion. The Ace and the Knight are illuminated by the full moon, where the Queen is under the 3rd quarter moon. This might give us insight into the timeframe of this emotional period. 

Eclipses are generally associated with ending one cycle to begin another, and it’s a time when we may experience a necessary loss of something that is no longer serving us. I can see that sense of loss playing out in this reading.

This Full Moon

Ace of Cups Rv: Sadness, emptiness, resentment. Instead of a new beginning it feels like another loss. This is a time to let go of old emotional baggage. 

3rd Quarter Moon

Queen of Cups Rv: Easily influenced by others’ negative energies, easily overwhelmed. Be selective about who you spend time with, and practice cleansing yourself of others’ emotional pollution.  

Next Full Moon

Knight of Cups Rv: Dramatic, unrealistic, butthurt. Keep your expectations in check, and mind your business. Protect your vulnerabilities for the moment and only open up to trusted friends. 

I haven’t felt called to pick up the Wizard’s Tarot in a while, but I was feeling particularly stabby today. When I tell you these three cards FLEW out of my hands while I was shuffling the deck – that was all I needed!

The Tower: We are in the midst of a great calamity. I won’t go deep on this because we’re all aware of world events and the state of chaos the US is presently in. Things are falling apart everywhere we look.

Page of Swords: I think a lot of us are feeling like this creature in the pit. But no, look at the little devil peering over the edge of its brilliant invention. We’re this dude. Still trying to figure things out, but taking action where we can to capture and dispose of the negativity coming at us from every direction. This is our small victory and now we’re cooking up ingenious ways to resist and bring order back to our lives.

King of Beasts (Wands): This badass stands victorious on its little hill surrounded by spiky fortifications, armed with teeth and claws, a breast plate, even. Focus on protection and preparedness, whether you buy some extra non-perishables, plan/plant a vegetable garden, set up some wards, protection spells, all of it. Take some time this weekend to strengthen yourself and your little fortress!

Deck: Raven’s Dream by MJ Cullinane

This has been an emotional new moon cycle as evidenced by all cups turning up for this weekend. But at the same time, all the pink in these images gives us a backdrop of growing love and hope. 

Card 1: Four of Cups

Many of us have been feeling apathetic and powerless, dwelling on all the shit going wrong and have lost the spark or motivation to course-correct. Sometimes all we can do is mope.

Card 2: Six of Cups

In addition moping we’ve cast our eyes and hearts to the past. Missing what our lives used to be, feeling sentimental for a time in life that seemed simpler. Perhaps mourning the state of things when you had looked forward to a bright future that’s turned out shittier than you planned. 

Card 3: Knight of Cups 

Despite what this card represents, there is no knight in shining armor riding in to save us. It’s us. WE are the knights. This weekend, gear up in your emotional armor, and ride back into life embracing the joyful moments and hopes of the past. What’s coming next for us will require action and resilience. 

Look around and see how you have evolved and bloomed. The pink motif in this spread shows a crescendo of love and community behind us, whether that’s the coven, family, or friends. Especially the Knight: the sky is filled with a cavalry of pink knights in formation heading into action. We’re showing up one by one to fight this battle and we have strength in numbers!

Deck: Mystic Cats

This weekend’s cards all came up reversed. We’re facing internal matters and working behind the scenes, not uncommon for waning into the new moon.

We are seeing two opposing pillars of power in this spread with The Emperor Reversed on one end, and the Queen of Cups Reversed at the other. Situated between them is the Seven of Swords Reversed, representing an unfair fight and a reckoning.

The Emperor Reversed: There’s a lack of true leadership at the moment. The vacuum is filled with a domineering, authoritarian presence with no concern for law and order. Things we care about are being steamrolled, trampled, and twisted beyond recognition in service to the whims of a tyrant.

Queen of Cups Reversed: Normally compassionate and loving, this queen has been pushed too far. The cup is empty, and unprocessed feelings are coming out sideways. Mood swings, anger, tears, fear. There are battles raging within and without. Now is the time to come to terms with the tornado of feelings and direct your care and attention inward. “Self care” in this case calls for giving yourself a hug, don’t be so hard on yourself for not keeping it all together. Process each feeling and its roots. 

Seven of Swords Reversed: The fight is everywhere with attacks on every front. It’s an unfair fight with dirty tricks, deceit, hidden agendas, and violence. The swords of this card are either neutral or pointed down in a resting position. The fight continues, but you need this moment of reprieve to collect yourself and reevaluate how to move forward in a way that honors your values and protects your emotional well-being. Everyone has their own line in the sand and only you can say what and where that is. Either way, we’re in it for the long haul, y’all. 

Deck: Tone Le Lone Tarot

Nine of Pentacles: y’all have been *grinding*, saving, working your fingers to the bone, and you have absolutely 100% earned a fuckin BREAK!! Take some time to enjoy life, enjoy the fruits of your labor, get out of the house to explore your corner of the world, see friends, or even just hit the mall or something! 

The Lovers Reversed: just a word of caution not to go too far tho. Getting caught up in the moment can get you in trouble. Like, enjoy yourself, but we’re not partying like it’s 1999. Think wholesome enriching fun, not hardcore Vegas followed by hangover city and the shame spiral that is sure to follow. 

Knight of Swords: then we’re gonna charge ahead with all the determination in our veins!! We will be recharged, focused, ready to conquer another week of chaos that has defined our times. With our combined mental energy we will cut clean through the bullshit and make our path forward together!
